Singles Walking Weekends In Scotland

The Group

Events Together Walking weekends will involve you being part of a group of typically up to 20 people who will get as much fun out of being together as a group as being on the hill! You will get to know the other participants as you enjoy some of the UK's finest scenery with plenty of time for conversation on the route. You don't need to worry about navigation as our experienced guides will take care of this.

We will aim to show you a taste of some of the high and low level routes that attract many people to a particular area, whether it's the Lake District or Snowdonia.

Above all you’ll be in great company and have a great time - together!

More about Clothing and Equipment

Safety

When you go on a Walking weekend with Events Together we take your comfort and safety very seriously so we will adapt the planned walking or scrambling itineraries according to the weather, and general levels of fitness within the group.
We want to make the event as enjoyable as possible for you and as well as thinking about your safety we will be thinking about your comfort too! So if the weather on the top is blowing a gale we will provide an alternative route for the day. Similarly any scrambling routes will be chosen according to conditions and participants' aptitudes as judged by our guides.

You will be required to bring suitable clothing e.g. warm, waterproof etc. for most activities Events Together offer. Please see the details on your chosen event for more specific information

All our instructors are suitably trained, qualified and insured for whatever the activity you are taking part in.They are also all trained first aiders.

Medical Conditions - If you are aware of any pre-existing medical conditions you have which may affect your ability to take part in any of the events provided by Events Together, you must make us aware of these when you book. If you have any questions on this subject please contact enquiries@eventstogether.co.uk.

Personal Insurance

Whilst it is not pre-requisite to taking part in any of our activity weekends, Events Together Limited recommends that its clients take out their own personal accident insurance. You may also wish to consider specific cover for any valuable equipment. Events Together recommends specialist cover from the British Mountaineering Council

Scrambling

Scrambling Picture 2

Scrambling is usually defined as being somewhere between walking and climbing. Once you start using your hands to aid progress on a steep ascent or descent, you are scrambling. Without care and a degree of skill and judgement, it can be dangerous, particularly if there's not the back-up of a climber’s gear and experience.

Aspirant scramblers need a range of judgemental and routefinding skills backed up with some basic climbing techniques for different rock features. Knowledge of basic ropework helps too. It's an exhilarating way of reaching a summit providing fresh views and perspectives en route. With Events Together you can enjoy these in the company of your fellow outdoor enthusiasts and experienced instructors.

What Can You Learn from the Experience?

  • Climbing skills suitable for varying rock forms and types – for example, how to tackle wet and loose rock, chimneys, slabs and steep sections.

  • Basic rope skills for safeguarding short ascents and descents – a range of important skills enabling the group leader to ensure greater margins of safety on tricky sections.

  • Judgement and routefinding skills – it’s not always easy to locate your chosen route, especially it’s start point and it can be even more difficult to keep on the correct line. We’ll give you some tips on how to do this.

  • Hazard awareness and management – factors such as loose rock, weather and condition changes.

  • Interpreting guidebooks – what the guidebooks say – and what they actually mean!

  • Equipment review – a look at footwear and other technical gear required for making your scrambling safer and easier.

  • An enjoyable and safe time.

  • Guided ascents of classic routes.
