Walking and Scrambling Weekend Itinerary

Friday Evening – Make your way to your chosen accommodation in Windermere in the Cumbrian Lake District - Meet for drinks with your Events Together host at 20.30 in the Lighthouse Bar Windermere

Day 1 - Saturday

0930 - 45 – Rendez-vous with your Events Together host and instructors outside Windermere Tourist Information (subject to confirmation nearer the time)

1000 - Depart for the day's chosen route on the Hill (this will vary depending on weather conditions on the day and the parties' levels of fitness) We aim to include some Grade I-II scrambling if this is judged suitable for all in the party.

12.30 -Lunch Stop

13.15 - Continue with the day's chosen itinerary

1630 - Head back to vehicle pick up point

1700 - 1830 - Return to Windermere (if time permits via a Lakeland hostelry)

2030 – Rendez-vous for Events Together Group Dinner at restaurant in Windermere (TBC)

Day 2 - Sunday

0945 - 1000 - Rendez-vous with your Events Together host and instructors outside Windermere Tourist Information (subject to confirmation nearer the time)

1015 - Depart for the day's chosen route on the Hill (this will vary depending on weather conditions on the day and the parties' levels of fitness but will be a shorter route than Saturday to allow for return journey time)

1245 - Lunch Stop

13.30 - Continue with the day's chosen itinerary

1600 - Head back to vehicle pick up point

1630 -1700- Return to Windermere for homeward departure

22nd - 25th Aug 2008 (3 day special including Bank Holiday Monday)

Included in the price for this Event :

  • Your Accommodation on board a luxury 43 foot yacht for Friday, Saturday and Sunday - includes all breakfasts and buffet lunches
  • All on-board instruction and all harbour, mooring and marina fees included
  • Fully qualified RYA skippers will be in charge and will also be your sailing instructors
  • Events Together host co-ordinating the event
  • All specific equipment and safety gear included
  • All foul weather equipment and safety gear for sailing and powerboating
  • An awesome hour of blasting around the Solent forts on a 50mph 250 hp RIB powerboat to start things off on the Saturday morning
  • Visits to some of the best pubs around the Solent including the centre of the sailing world at Cowes
  • ..and the opportunity to meet and share the experience with like-minded singles!

Itinerary

2030 - 2100 Rendezvous on board - you will be greeted by your Events Together host who will introduce you to your crew for the weekend and allocate your berth. Once everyone has arrived and your gear is stowed you'll head off to Landers Bar for a pre-sailing drink!

If guests cannot make the Friday evening arrival there will be an option to join the group on Saturday morning (before 09.30) at the Marina. It would be preferable to arrive Friday evening however.

Day 1 - Saturday

0830 - Breakfast aboard the yacht. Any new arrivals are fully briefed by the skipper on all aspects of boat safety and the itinerary for their weekends sailing is discussed.

0930 - RIB Power boating for 1 hour’s blast around Portsmouth Harbour before departure to get everyone in the mood for a weekend on the water! This will get your pulses racing!

1030 - Depart Portsmouth harbour for a leisurely sail around Solent. Your highly experienced Skipper will actively ensure you have the maximum enjoyment from your sailing experience. Guests can participate in helming the boat, raising and trimming the sails, tacking et.c. or just sit back and enjoy the magnificent Solent views.

1300 - 30 - Buffet lunch aboard. After lunch more sailing - getting to know and handle the vessel.

1600 - 30 - Head to Cowes, Shepard Wharf, on the Isle of Wight for the evening.

1700 - Arrive in Cowes - moor up - take the opportunity to shower/change etc.

2000 - Head to a local restaurant and then most likely the Anchor pub for the evening

Day 2 - Sunday

0900 - Breakfast on Board

0930 - Depart Cowes for more sailing on the Solent

1100 - Put some of your new-found skills in to action with sailing exercises on Solent while heading in the direction of the South Coast - option to moor up at on the Island or the South Coast for a pub-lunch stop (depending on weather and everyone's preference)

1230 - Lunch Stop - Option to pull in for Sunday lunch on the Island/South Coast or continue sailing.

1730 - Sail to Yarmouth, Isle of Wight and moor up for the evening

2000 - Head to local restaurant/pub for evening meal

Day 3 - Bank Holiday Monday

0900 - Breakfast on Board

0930 - Depart Yarmouth for more sailing on the Solent

1100 - Put some of your new-found skills in to action with sailing exercises on Solent

1230 - 1300 - Lunch Stop - Option to pull in for Sunday lunch on the Island/South Coast or continue sailing.

1600 - 1630 - Return to Marina - Exact time will be dependent on weather and conditions

700 - 1730 - Guests disembark become landlubbers again and depart for home!

Elan Valley Multi-Activity Weekend

Friday Evening - Arrive at Elan Valley Lodge Outdoor Centre, Elan Valley Village, Rhyader Mid Wales.

There is plenty of parking and an 'honesty' bar on site!

Dinner will be served for 8.30 p.m.but don't worry if you won't be able to make it on time we'll keep it warm for you. Get to know your fellow adventurers over a drink and dinner.

Day 1 - Saturday

08.30 - 09.30 - Breakfast

10.00 - Meet your Events Together host and instructors for briefing and kit up for the days' activities.

10.15 - 30 - Start the day with an exhilarating introduction to climbing. Learn how to use a harness and belay your climbing 'buddy' then swap round and have your chance to show your skills on the crag. Go straight on to take a 60ft abseil - SAS style

12.30 - 13.30 - Break for Lunch by the Lake

13.30 - 17.30 - Paddle a Canadian Canoe to the weirs on the Elan Valley Reservoir -learn how to manouevre safely and efficiently and get yourself warmed up for the big challenge of the afternoon - splitting into two teams you will build your own raft from nothing more than barrells, rope and wooden spars and hit the water for a no-holds barred race with the other half of the group - this is a really great teamworking experience and if you didn't know your opposite numbers after the climbing - you will do now!

17.30 - 1830 - Return to Elan Valley Lodge - Tea and coffee

18.30 - 20.00 - If everyone's still up for more we go down to the Archery field to see how accurate you are with a bow and arrow - don't shoot the winning rafting team.

20.30 - Rendez-vous for Events Together Group Dinner in the Lodge Restaurant - There'll be a lot to talk about over dinner and then there's an option for a short walk along the river to the local pub (for some local colour!) afterwards.

Day 2 – Sunday

0830 - 0930 – Breakfast

1000 - Head off to the High Ropes Course to see if you can make the 'Leap of Faith', build the highest milk crate tower ever constructed in the course of pleasure seeking and finally can you walk the high wire?

1245 - Lunch Stop by the Lake

1330 - Orienteering - Can you read the map, find the clues and be the first back to the base?

In the forest around the Lake this is a great way to wrap up the weekend's fun.

1600 - Head back to Elan Valley Lodge

1630 -1700 - Homeward departure

NOTE: The day's activities (on either day) will ultimately depend on the weather but will include anything from abseiling and climbing, archery, orienteering, Canoeing on the Lake/ reservoir, high ropes teamwork experience or a walk in the local hills. Note that for earlier and later in the season the rafting may not be an option if the weather is not suitable.
